The American Mural Project is a nonprofit organization focused on creating the largest collaborative piece of indoor artwork in the world, a celebration of American ingenuity, productivity, and commitment to work.
The finished piece will be a three-dimensional painting, 120 feet long and five stories high, made of a wide variety of materials, including honeycomb, aluminum panels, fiberglass, ceramic tiles, fabric, marble, blown glass and watches!
GFWC is proud to be a partner with the American Mural Project. Member clubs are are encouraged to support AMP by developing programs to collect used, non-operating watches. A $1 donation per watch will pay to embed each watch in resin. The watches will be incorporated into the mural (and may spell out GFWC), symbolizing our dedication to volunteerism and the hours we have donated in support of volunteerism in our communities.
In March 2011 the Redwood City Woman's Club launched a campaign to collect used watches and $1 per watch. Every contributor’s name will be included in the display.
Thank you to the members who contributed for their support of AMP, GFWC and the Redwood City Woman's Club!
